EDUCATION AND EVANGELISM

Adult FormationFormation for Adults is offered on Sunday mornings at 9:15 – with some added special programs throughout the year. The Vestry Liaison listed on the contact sheet would be interested in any offerings volunteers might wish to present, or in which folks might participate.

Children's Sermon and Soft Space - Each week the preacher leads the youngest of our community in a small lesson and conversation as part of the sermon. Tote bags with materials about the lessons of the day are available in the entryway and a soft space for children is available in the front of the church. Welcome children, we are glad you are here!

Junior Youth Group - Kids ages 8-12 gather once a month with Rev. Carey and others for lunch, games, and work on service projects.

*Greeters – These individuals are at the front door each Sunday to make sure all are welcomed as they enter our church.  They give out bulletins to all, and information to visitors.

Library – Our parish library is located at the end of the long hall in the Education Building.  It is a welcoming space for parishioners to take out books for learning, or books for fun.  All ages are welcome to use our library.

Preschool Board – St. Christopher’s Preschool is a wholly owned subsidiary of the church and is governed by a volunteer board.  Love for children and care for their education are good reasons to be part of this vital ministry. The board meets monthly.

Seminarian Lay Support Team – Every other year, we sponsor a Seminarian to learn ministry in context here at St. Christopher’s.  That individual has a support team of members of the Laity who work with them as they serve and learn.

*Shrinemont Parish Retreat – Each year, we take a weekend to retreat to the Diocesan Retreat Center at Shrinemont in the Shenandoah Mountains.  This is a safe, quiet, relaxing space to gather, learn, and breathe.  It is the home of our Diocesan Cathedral – the Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration – an open air shrine where we worship on Sunday morning. Scholarship monies for fees for the two nights and six meals are available. Speak to the Priest-in-Charge.

Wednesday Morning Prayer and Conversations with Rev. Carey – This is a community of people meeting on Zoom committed to praying for families, friends, our nation and the world in a friendly and supportive space. Following the Daily Office of Morning Prayer the group hangs out for a wide ranging conversation. Meeting weekly at 9:30 a.m. Email the office sccparisha@gmal.com for the link.
